Rawai Beach is a beautiful part of Phuket Island that is not over crowded with resorts and tourists. Located in the Southern end of the Island, Rawai is only 6 km from the main tourist attractions in Kata Beach and 12 km from Patong Beach and Phuket Town. The coastal road between Rawai and Kata beaches is a popular route for cyclists, joggers and photographers. The road weaves through hills that separate Rawai from Kata and offers breathtaking ocean views and glimpses of beautiful secluded beaches. Some days you can see elephants and monkeys as you travel along this stretch of road. Rawai is a quiet area with many small Thai homes, rubber tree and banana tree plantations scattered throughout the tropical rain forest.
The streets of Rawai are lined with coconut trees and the roads usually only have local traffic. There is a small gypsy village on one end of Rawai Beach. The gypsies, also known locally as "Chao Ley", are the local fisherman in Rawai and have BBQ restaurants set up along the beach that cook the day's catch for you fresh off the boat. Rawai has secluded beaches and some of the island's best snorkeling. Prom Thep Cape in Rawai is a great place to watch the sun set.
Nai Harn Beach The white sandy beach and crystal clear water of Nai Harn makes it one of the nicest beaches in Phuket. Nai Harn beach is located in southern Phuket between Rawai and Kata beaches. Nai Harn offers secluded areas for topless and nude bathing (although the Thais find this activity unpolite), the snorkeling at Nai Harn is exceptional. There is a Thai style cafe on the beach that makes quality Thai food and fruit shakes for you while you relax under the umbrellas. Nai Harn beach is 1 km long and is a popular place for locals and tourists for jogging. On Saturday mornings, if weather permits, Rawai Muay Thai students run to Naiharn (3 KM) and train there. After the training is done we swim in the crystal blue water.
Kata Beach and Karon Beach Kata and Karon offer beautiful white sandy beaches with safe swimming areas and lots of tourist activities such as snorkeling, jet ski hire, para sailing and massages on the beach. Mobile Phone usage in Thailand Visa RunIf you want to stay in Thailand for longer than your visa permits, the solution is to do a visa run. A visa run is a tour group that takes you across the Thailand border and brings you back to Thailand the same day. The easiest options for a visa run are: Ranong -Burma, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur Maylsia. If you stay past your visa date in Thailand, you will have to pay a fine of 500 Thai Baht for every day you over stayed in Thailand and you will have the hassle of a lot of paper work in the Thailand Customs office before you can depart the country. A Visa Run to Ranong from Phuket is cheap and easy. It takes around 10 hours (round trip) and costs 1,800 Baht. A minibus takes you to the Thai border in Ranong. You get your passport stamped when you leave Thailand. A boat then takes you to Burma. The boat trip takes around 20 minutes each way. You get your passport stamped in Burma and you then come back to Thailand to receive another 30 day Tourist entry visa in the Thailand border. The visa run is easy to do and everything is organized for you including pick up and drop off at your hotel and lunch. There will be other people on the mini bus doing the same visa run so it's a great time to make new friends and share travel stories. There are many companies that offer visa runs throughout Thailand. Some of them are less reputable than others so don't go for the cheapest option as it is not always the best option. Visa Run to Singapore If money is not an issue then a visa run to Singapore is a pleasant experience. The flight takes only 1.5 hours and costs aprox 7,000 Thai Baht ($120 USD). You get to do some duty free shopping in Singapore. You can stay overnight or return to Phuket within an hour. Flights to Singapore depart everyday from Phuket airport.

Visa Run to Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia Kuala Lumpur is one of the most exciting cities to visit in Asia. Kuala Lumpur is a tourist friendly city with most locals speaking very good English. There is lots to see and to do such as shopping, night life, good food, the world's tallest twin towers- The Petronas Towers, an amazing walk under the aquarium, China town, local markets, and some of the best Indian / Malay Curries in Asia. Kuala Lumpur is also home to the world famous Sepang Race Circuit. Kuala Lumpur is located close to Singapore and is only a 1-hour flight from Phuket Thailand. The shopping at Kuala Lumpur is amazing. All the big brand names are there at prices so much cheaper than in Europe. Kuala Lumpur is the perfect destination for a 2 - 3 day getaway trip or visa How to get there Air Asia offers the best fares at approx 5,000 THB from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur return. Please Note: The airport in Kuala Lumpur is located approximately 60 KM from the city center (CCKL). A bus is the cheapest way to get to the city center but it's very slow taking nearly 2 hours. The train takes 30 minutes and is the fastest option to get from the airport to the city. The Air Asia terminal is located approximately 5 KM from the main airport terminal so when you have cleared customs at KL airport you will need to catch a bus or a taxi to the main airport terminal to catch the train into the city center (CCKL). Where to stay There are 3 main tourist zones in Kuala Lumpur:
All 3 zones are within walking distance to each other so you can easily visit the attractions in each of the other areas. See Hotels available in Kuala Lumpur I stayed at the Istana Hotel and found it to be very good. The location was central to everything, including the mono rail and the famous Bintang Walk which is well-known for major shopping malls, night life and street markets. The breakfast at the Istana hotel was exceptional and the pool had a nice quiet location to relax and chill-out under the tropical sun. Sepang Race Circuit
