Muaythai Day
- March 16th
Thailand's
first famous Muay Thai boxer was Nai Khanom Tom, It was said
that he defeated a dozen Burmese fighters in a wager for his freedom. The legend
says....Nai Khanom Tom was a prisoner of war in a Burmese POW camp in the 15th
century, the Burmese King wanted some entertainment so he organized a fight between
the Thai prisoners and his Burmese soldiers. Nai Khanom Tom was the first Thai
to fight. He taunted the Burmese soldier as he danced around the court yard prior
to starting the fight, this dance is known as the Whi Kru. Nai Khanom Tom defeated
the Burmese soldier with a series of lethal kicks and elbows, the King demanded
that he have another fight and each time Nai Khanom Tom defeated the Burmese with
devastating results.
After defeating all 12 Burmese soldiers, the king was
so impressed with his Muay Thai boxing skills & courage that he granted Nai Khanom
Tom freedom & offered him 4 young Burmese girls as brides.
Nai Kha Nom
Tom is considered the father of Muay Thai and his great victory on March 16th
is remembered in Thailand as "Muay Thai Day".

Army seizes power in Thailand
Tanks and troops took over Government House in Thailand's first coup in 15
years and a coup spokesman said the army and police were in control of the capital
and surrounding provinces.
Armoured vehicles and soldiers took up position
on many street corners, but life in most of Bangkok continued much as usual with
traffic moving through rain drenched streets and the airport operating normally.
The seizure would be temporary and power "returned to the people" soon, retired
Lieutenant-General Prapart Sakuntanak said on all Thai television channels.
UP DATE:Everything @ Phuket remains much the
same, the sun came up @ the correct time this morning, the price of fish has not
gone up, their is still plenty of surf @ Nai Harn beach and the airports @ bangkok
& Phuket are still open for business as usual.
Students due to arrive
@ Rawai Muaythai Camp in the flollowing weeks wont have any issues or even see
the presence of the Thai army.

" It was
avery hard run, The marathon started @ 5 am & I crossed the finish line @ 10:45am
I was sick from a cold / flu the week before the marathon but I felt strong
enough to run a few days before the race, I knew @ the 12 km marker that my health
was not 100% but decided to continue and see how far I could push my self. @ the
20km marker I was struggling, every muscle & joints in my legs was sore, @
8am the sun was up and the heat was sucking up what little energy I had left,
The last 7 km was very slow, my legs were cramping & prayed for a truck run
off the road & put me out of my mizzery, I crossed the finish line @ 10:45
am. (At least now I have an easy time to beat in next years Phuket Marathon")
