Khao Lak Bike Rental

How to get around? The cheapest way is of course walking, but with the heat and the roads that have no sidewalks, it’s not the nicest or safest option. You can rent bicycles; a few shops have them. But by far, the most common option, is the motorbike. Most shops rent 125 cc bikes. The most common brands are Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. Be aware that you must wear a helmet when riding your bike. If you don’t the police will stop you and give you a ticket, usually around 500 Baht.

Furthermore, please be careful when riding your bike. The #1 cause of accidents in Thailand are road accidents, usually involving a scooter/motorbike. In Thailand we drive on the left side of the road, which can be disorienting for most tourists. And people don’t really follow road laws. Some describe the roads in Thailand as lawless. So don’t be silly, ride slowly and carefully. You are in your holiday after all, so why speed. And last but not least, don’t drink and drive! You would be surprised at how many people forget this while on holiday. Don’t be foolish and risk your life. If you go out to drink then take a taxi.

At Rawai Muay Thai we offer Honda scooters for rent on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.  The cost is: 200 Baht daily, 1,200 Baht weekly and 4,200 Baht monthly. Please note: In Thailand motorbikes are not insured. If you lose it you are liable for the cost of the bike. Any damage to the bike will be the renter’s responsibility. If you have never ridden a motorbike before we do not recommend that you rent one in Thailand, s the roads can be tricky and bikes accidents are common.
