Rawai Muay Thai is more than just a Thai boxing gym. It is a place for young kids to learn the sport and find a home. Most of our young kids come from poor families that can’t afford to support them. We take them in and teach them the skills they need to compete. All the kids train for free and some of them live in the camp. They go to school during the day and train in the afternoons. It’s a big expense from the gym point of view but we do it because we want to.

Tuk, the owner of the camp, was a young poor fighter once as well. He knows first hand what it was like to be hungry, to have nothing but a dream. Muay Thai gave him a good life and now it’s time to help the next generation achieve their goals.

Daoloei is one of these kids. He comes from Loei province. His name means Loei Star. He is 14 years old and has 14 fights. He has potential but most importantly, he is not lazy. He trains hard, morning and afternoon. And he is respectful to the trainers in the gym. His fellow boxers have become a second family and they support each other in and out of the gym.

Australian brothers Dean and Christian Kennedy of Francisco Films have made a nice film about Daoloei and his last fight at the local stadium in Khao Lak. Both brothers have been coming to Rawai Muay Thai over the years and are big supporters of our gym. We thank them and wish them the best for their upcoming projects.
